KLM Increasing Cuba Flights

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is increasing its operations from Amsterdam to Havana with a new direct flight, beginning October 30, 2016.

With the addition of this new flight, KLM will now be offering daily flights to Cuba’s capital.

The measure is a response to the growing interest Cuban tourism opportunities and consequent increase in travelers to the island’s capital from Schiphol Airport, Amsterdam.

Since 2012, KLM has offered a direct flight between Amsterdam and Havana that recently upgraded from an Airbus A330-200 to a larger A330-300, allowing for a 50 percent increase in passengers in 2016.

According to Cuba’s National Bureau of Statistics and Information, 42,465 Dutch travelers visited Cuba in 2015, marking a 26.8 percent growth from the previous year.

Overall, Cuba’s Ministry of Tourism reports that between January and March of this year tourist arrivals to Cuba increased by 13 percent compared to the same period in 2015.
