They like to say at the Ambos Mundos that the typical hotel check-in desk is replaced by a piano bar.
It’s no surprise, then, that a place like this pink building, which was first built in the 1920s in the heart of Old Havana, became one of Ernest Hemingway’s favorite Havana haunts.
Indeed, the hotel’s room 511 was the first place Hemingway lived in Cuba, where he stayed for a seven year period beginning in 1932.
And while it’s by no means a luxury hotel (on the contrary, it’s very much a budget option) it’s a chance to stay in a piece of history.
And even if you don’t stay here, you can soak in the Hemingway vibes at the lobby bar.
