Bourdain in Cuba

Anthony Bourdain’s “Parts Unknown” Profiles A Cuba in Transition

Anthony Bourdain artfully sums up what’s happening in Cuba by saying, “The toothpaste is out of the tube and there’s no putting it back.” His visit to Cuba kicks off Season 6 of Parts Unknown this Sunday at 9 p.m. ET on CNN.

Bourdain’s visit to Cuba is the second US TV show host to profile the emerging island nation. Earlier this year, Conan O’Brien entertained viewers with his gringo antics and broken Spanglish.

Parts Unknown is a US food and travel show and Bourdain’s way to, “eat and drink with people without fear and prejudice … they open up to you in ways that somebody visiting who is driven by a story may not get.” And also explore the world. The show has won 3 Emmy Awards and earned 11 nominations for writing, sound mixing, editing, and cinematography.

Bourdain exclaims, “Everyone in the world will want to go there — and they soon will.” Sunday’s episode will document the fantastic changes happening in Cuba and highlight the country’s charm. He says, “Even crumbling from neglect, Havana is the most beautiful city in all of Latin America or the Caribbean. The rum is the finest in the world, bar none. The music fantastic.”
