Cuba Clarifies Policy on Cuban-American Travel

Cuba’s government has clarified its policy on Cuban-Americans, now considering the US-born children of Cuban parents to be Americans in Cuba.

In a statement, the CubaOne Foundation said it had confirmed that the US-born children of Cuban parents are regarded as Americans by Cuba.

CubaOne is an organization focused on offering Cuban-Americans free trips to Cuba to connect with their heritage.

“We consulted with various experts—including lawyers, scholars, and the American Embassy—all of whom confirmed that Cuba regards individuals born in the United States to Cuban parents as Americans when traveling inside of Cuba,” the foundation wrote.

The US Embassy in Havana will reportedly be updating its website shortly with the change.
