Habanos Announces Its New Ediciones Limitadas

Habanos has announced a new portfolio of Ediciones Limitadas, or limited edition, cigars for 2017.

The new limited editions will be arriving in shops worldwide in the coming weeks, according to the company.

The new slate includes three cigars: the Montecristo Dantés, the Trinidad Topes and the Romeo y Julieta Capuletos.

Habanos’ limited editions typically are released in vitolas that don’t exist in their brands’ regular size portfolios.

All have wrapper, filler and binder that have been aged for at least two years, with the wrapper in particular a shade-grown black tobacco plant giving the cigar a distinct dark hue.

So what will they be like?

The Montecristo Dantés 48 ring gauge by 167 mm length, is the first “Hermoso”, in the Montecristo brand, sold in a special case of 10 cigars.

The Romeo y Julieta Capuletos will be 53 ring gauge by 153 mm length, with a new vitola called Sobresalientes that is the first in the Habanos portfolio. It will be sold in a box of 25.

The Trinidad Topes, 56 ring gauge by 125 mm length, will be Trinidad’s second-heaviest ring gauge after the Trinidad Vigia, which Habanos says is part of a trend of filling out Trinidad’s range with heavier gauges. It will be sold in a box of 12 cigars.
