The Manana Cuba festival is planned for May 4-6, 2016 in the city of Santiago de Cuba, located on the eastern coast of Cuba – 540 miles east of Havana.  According to the event organizers, the festival will take place in the Heredia complex and will also have access to courtyards, house parties, street carnivals and processions that give the city its musical soul.

Manana is not Mañana misspelled.  The organizers of Cuba’s 1st International Electronic and Afro-Cuban Folkloric Music Festival describe the word as, “a concept that explains the key attributes that an artists needs in order to connect with their audience. Manana stands for ability and dexterity.”

Manana 2016 has been approved by the Cuban Government. The festival has partnered with some of Cuba’s principal cultural institutions and has teamed up with with leading underground events organizer Hydra : Electric Minds; the wise heads at No-Nation; and tropical masters Sofrito.   Also participating are legendary musicians such as DMZ founder, Mala; Puerto Rican breakthrough act IFÉ; “Godfather” of Cuban drumming Galis; and Santiago rumba masters, Obba Tuke.

The festival’s organizers have launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund the project.
