Beyoncé and Jay-Z caused quite the uproar when they made their visit to Cuba back in 2013.
Looking back, though, the two were pioneers for what is now the island’s tourism rebirth — a year and a half later, Cuba and the US had begun the process of normalization.
So where did they go on their trip?
Maybe you know the hotel: the Saratoga, the grand dame of Havana hotels where Beyoncé and Jay-Z stayed on their trip to Havana.
And you can stay there — if you can find a room.
But what about where the superstar couple dined?
If you want to find a leafy, out-of-the-way spot that was one of Beyoncé’s haunts on the trip, look no further than Doña Carmela, a paladar on the outskirts of the capital.
It’s no secret that we at Cuba Journal are big fans of the paladar, which is arguably the best in Cuba — but don’t let us convince you — let the brick-grilled whole chickens do that — as good a meal as there is in the country.

This is one of Cuba’s must-visit eateries, and it’s no surprise Beyonce stopped here.
